The second model in the DOM line designed by Stefano Vafiadis is under construction at Baglietto shipyard and proceeds according to the scheduled plans. To date, hull and superstructure have been completed and the construction has been moved to the outfit shed. Built on speculation the yacht will be available for delivery in April 2022.
‘DOM’ stands for Domus, meaning “home” in Latin. Indeed, the idea of a ‘home away from home’ lies at the core of this series of mid-size, aluminum cruisers modelled around the functional and lifestyle needs of modern yacht owners. The line includes 2 models; DOM 123 and DOM 133. The first DOM 123 M/Y RUN AWAY (37M) was launched in summer 2020 and in process to be delivered to his Owner.
Both superyachts share a distinctive family feeling by combining contemporary exterior lines inspired by automotive design with generous interior volumes and extensive open-air spaces.
The DOM133 is the largest model in the DOM line. This 40-meter motor yacht is an ocean-going passagemaker with a shallow draft (2,10 m – 7ft), aluminum hull that has been tank tested to seakeeping and efficiency.
Given the incredible performance achieved by the hybrid propulsion system of the 31 meters M/Y Vanadis- the first Italian motor yacht to receive the Lloyd’s Hybrid Power certification – the shipyard decided to further invest into technology and research of sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.
Indeed, the DOM 133 will be equipped with a propulsion system that combines traditional diesel engines, e-motors and batteries depending on operational needs to reduce consumption and environmental impact while increasing efficiency and onboard comfort. The range with diesel electric mode can reach up 7,500 nm and the yacht can stay 10 hours at anchor only on batteries. Nevertheless, the yacht is capable to reach a considerable 17 knots max speed thanks to two CAT C32 engines.
With a 8.70m beam (29ft), the DOM133 has a very generous interior volume and boasts an impressive array of lifestyle features, many of which are often only found on yachts in excess of 50m such as an elevator from lower deck all the way to sun deck. Indeed, the yacht has a fantastic 70-sqm (753-sq/ft) sun deck with hot tub and wet bar linked by elevator directly with the guest accommodation and lower deck allowing easy access.
The main deck layout has been developed to ensure optimal flow between the interior and the exterior areas while also enhancing the convivial atmosphere. For example, the main salon features full-height and openable panoramic windows as a natural extension of the open aft deck. The 2-levels beach club with flush pool complete the unique layout.
“Respect for and vicinity to the sea are the core principles of the shipyard’s design philosophy, which has led to the creation of the E-Prop line, the line of hybrid yachts. These yachts are conceived and designed to be able to cruise freely or remain at anchor at zero emissions, to protect nature and enjoy it at its fullest”, says the shipyard.
