The Sanlorenzo SD112 Kathleen yacht marks the debut of the Citterio Viel studio in the yachtbuilding world. The studio is now already working on a second larger project.
The Italian multi-disciplinary design studio was founded by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel in 1999 focusing in the fields of Architectural, Interior and Urban Design. Among the several typologies of projects realized are: urban plans, residential and commercial complexes, industrial establishments, conservative restructuring of public buildings and planning of spaces for work, offices, showrooms and hotels. Antonio Citterio is currently working in the industrial design sector with Italian and foreign companies such as Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Fusital, Hermès, Iittala, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec Group – Pozzi Ginori, Technogym, Tre Più and Vitra.

When a little object makes you win the prestigious Compasso d’Oro
Antonio Citterio has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d’Oro in 1987 and 1995. The product designs Mobil and Battista, which Citterio designed for Kartell, belong to the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art.
KARTELL | Mobil is a system of containers that simultaneously boasts agility, mobility, practicality, resistance and durability. Thanks to its design and the glamour of the colours available, it fits into any room in the home or office, lending itself to various types of use. Surfaces and drawers are available in three finishes: with a successful semi-transparent effect, opaque and glossy in the PMMA transparent version. The drawer, alternating with the upper surfaces and the top, is the system’s base element. Mobil can be a simple chest of two to six drawers with convenient handles. The possible configurations can rest on wheels or legs, making Mobil suitable for use in different contexts: from the bedroom to the living room and bathroom, as a stereo stand, or in the study or office as desk drawers for office supplies and documents.

With this partnership Sanlorenzo consolidates the unbreakable link between home and yacht, living and the sea, combining the two worlds by creating elegant innovations that appeal to owners throughout the world. The SD112 Kathleen recalls the atmosphere of the grand private yachts of yesteryear, reinterpreting their timeless elegance and time-honoured style.
The living area has been entirely redesigned, so now the carefully-achieved, elegant details complement lifestyle comfort in optimised spaces where every interior displays a fusion of quality and personalisation, a combination of the owner’s precise requirements and practical technical considerations.
The SD112 Kathleen, recently delivered to a Scottish couple, is a seaborne expression of the Citterio style, blending perfectly with the Sanlorenzo philosophy of constant development and innovation while keeping the fundamental values that have guided the company since its earliest days.
Antonio Citterio’s next project for the most iconic Italian shipyard will be an even larger yacht – a 42 metre Explorer 460, commissioned by a Swiss owner.
