This new project innovates the planing line, making the brand take another extraordinary step forward. Ferretti Custom Line steps beyond the borders of luxury with a new 108-footer. The new maxi yacht, characterised by elegance, style and a sporty character, is the heir of one of the brand’s best sellers. A project that has conquered the market even before making its debut.

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]erretti Custom Line, a brand of the Ferretti Group specialising in the production of fibreglass planing and semi-displacement maxi yachts between 28 and 38 metres in length, is introducing the Custom Line 108’.

The new project, which is part of the planing line, will make its debut next summer and is the heir of its successful 100-foot predecessor, which was largely appreciated all over the world, as proven by the 14 models sold in only three years. Surpassing oneself is never easy, but the Ferretti Group teams involved in the development of this new project were able to conceive an even sportier and outstandingly stylish yacht, characterized by large volumes, sophisticated and fully-customizable interiors, and state-of-the-art technological solutions.

Stefano De Vivo, Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, enthusiastically underlines the value of the new project: “We have perfected an already winning product, implementing on this new 108-footer – among other things – the extraordinary innovations that were presented during the autumn boat shows, such as the patented Dual Mode Transom system and the VOTIS infotainment system.
And our choice has been immediately endorsed by the market: two hulls have indeed already been sold (in Europe, by the way), bearing witness to the fact that difficulties can be overcome by betting on world-class quality. The quality offered by Custom Line for the last 20 years. Over the next few months we intend to widen our new-customer base as much as possible and we hope reap the benefits of our work next summer, when the 108′ will officially make its debut”.

The new maxi yacht is the outcome of the cooperation between the research and development AYT&D Department and design firm Zuccon International Project. It is characterized by much larger volumes than the model it draws inspiration from, which has de facto been further improved and completed: the overall length has been increased to 32.95 metres (108 ft./1 in.) and the beam is 7.25 metres (23 ft./9 in.), resulting in over one square metre more on the main deck and the flybridge. The aft area has been enlarged thanks to the installation of the Dual Mode Transom (DMT), Ferretti Group’s revolutionary patented electrical-hydraulic system, which allows to open the aft door both upwards and downwards. In this way, a float-in garage fitting an over-5 metre tender and a jet ski, a submersible transom, and a beach club reaching almost 15 sq. metres can be integrated into one single system. This innovative solution, which was presented for the first time last September on the Ferretti Custom Line Navetta 28, is the result of the cooperation between AYT&D, and the Group’s technological partners, Centro Stile Srl and Besenzoni Spa.

The Custom Line 108’ immediately strikes the eye for its slender, stylish profile. Its streamlined, sober and extremely balanced lines have been reinterpreted making the most of its predecessor’s most successful features. On the main deck the superstructure and the glazed surfaces have been restyled, thereby highlighting even more the visual impact of the glazing at the height of the raised pilot house. The restyling has also involved the large glazing in the wide body master stateroom, which looks like the tip of an arrow, strengthening the sporty character of this yacht and offering a unique view, as well as ensuring unprecedented natural interior brightness. The hull windows of the 4 VIP cabins have also been widened, and for the first time they come in a rectangular shape: they are now more than 1.45 sq. metres large, have no fibreglass frame and are completed by a flush glued double porthole, an exclusive solution by Amare Group for the Ferretti Group. The extension of the aft area has been combined with a restyled flybridge ‘tail’, whose design has been harmonised with the door inclination.

MAIN DECK

The overall extension of the main deck by 8 feet (approximately 2.5 metres) has radically changed the main deck’s general layout. The cockpit is now dominated by a large sunbathing area, where the sofa can be converted into chaise longue (facing aft or forward) and into a sunpad, allowing guests to enjoy beach life together at the beach club. The central table seating eight people completes the cockpit furniture. The staircase leading to the flybridge is located starboard, while to port, at the beginning of the walkway, access can be gained to the engine room.

Ferretti-Custom-Line-108_main-deck-salon-2-300x168Walking past the cockpit’s glazed door, guests can step into the salon, which is more than one metre larger than that found on the 100 footer. The salon includes the living area followed by the dining area, as well as a cocktail corner near the entrance on the starboard side, furnished with a low cabinet with bottle rack/refrigerator, an icemaker, and a sliding top with optional sink. Another cabinet with shelves (which may be used as a cellaret or a bookcase) is concealed by the TV screen, which can slide forward to face the living area, featuring a C-shaped sofa, an armchair and a coffee table. A full-height glazing, which upon request can be replaced by a sliding glazed door, opens up onto the starboard walkway, at the level of the collapsible gunwale which, once lowered, turns into a charming terrace overlooking the sea. The table, seating ten people, dominates the dining area, in front of which, on the right-hand side, stands a low cabinet where dishes and glassware can be conveniently stored.

Ferretti-Custom-Line-108_main-deck-salon-1 (1)The central part of the deck ideally divides the day area from the master stateroom and the service areas. To port access is gained to the galley byErnestomeda and, from there, down to the crew area. The latter can also be reached from the outside and is fitted on starboard with a door leading to the lobby. From the latter the pilot house, upstairs, or the guest cabins, downstairs, can be reached.

Walking forward from the lobby after the day toilet is the master stateroom, which enjoys the utmost privacy. The wide body configuration, much appreciated on the 100’, is further enhanced on the Custom Line 108’ by two huge windows that extend up to the head, located at the extreme bow. The cabin features a vanity area, beyond which is the double bed. Beside it are a small lounge to starboard and a desk to port, standing by which the Owner can enjoy a magnificent view over the sea. The bathroom has been arranged into three separate areas. Left of the bed, a door leads into the walk-in wardrobe.

LOWER DECK

Below deck a large octagonal lobby allows to manage onboard circulation between the four guest cabins – two double ones aft, and two twin ones forward. These cabins are true suites at the sea level, and benefit from plenty of natural light thanks to the new glazing system. All cabins are en-suite with separate shower; the two fore ones are furnished with a vanity set and a pouf, while the two located aft feature a desk (that can also be used as a vanity set), as well as a walk-in wardrobe.

The crew quarters are also very comfortable. They are located at the extreme bow and are accessed via a dinette /galley. Opposite is the captain’s cabin, with ensuite head and separate shower. The four sailors have available two ensuite cabins with bunk beds.

The technical areas have been optimised to: not only is the engine room wider – thanks to the new design of the garage, an area right of the tender basin has been obtained to store a 3-seat jet-ski, which can be launched directly into the floodable area using a lift.

FLYBRDIGE, PILOT STATION AND FORWARD AREA

The flybridge, very large, extends uninterruptedly over 36 square metres, and can be customised to the Owner’s taste. At the extreme bow, on the left-hand side, is the second pilot station, access to which can be gained through the sliding hatch located behind the raised pilot house; the co-pilot seat is on the right-hand side.

The outdoor dining area, sheltered by a slender hard-top that can be fitted with a sliding Bimini top, is furnished with a large C-shaped sofa and two tables that can be joined together. Opptails can be served to the guests, comfortably sitting on three tools.

The remaining part of the flybridge offers an amazingly spacious relaxation area that can be fitted with freestanding furniture. A davit for an additional water toy can however be installed upon request. The view from here is truly magnificent, also thanks to a slot obtained in the aft gunwale, which opens up onto the cockpit and the beach club located just below.

The main pilot house, equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation, is furnished with sofas standing behind the pilot and co-pilot seats as well as with additional compartments where all the necessary documentation can be stored. The forward outdoor areas allow to relax while enjoying maximum privacy, thanks to a double sunpad on the deckhouse and the dinette completed by two L-shaosite is a cocktail bar with a sink, a bottle-rack/refrigerator, an icemaker, and a glass top where refreshing cockped sofas and two coffee tables that can be joined together.

AN AD HOC DÉCOR

The Custom Line 108’ marks an important evolution also in terms of interior décor: stylish finishes and original contrasts are further highlighted by exclusive furniture and the greatest possible care for details. Architects and designers of Ferretti Group’s Centro Stile carried out ad hoc studies together with Group’s partners, in order to go beyond the concept of maxi yacht whose furniture and furnishings can be ‘customized’, by creating excusive design solutions for this model.

The Custom Line 108’ embodies a new concept of luxury, in which Ferretti Custom Line’s unmistakable Italian style goes hand in hand with very classy solutions adding a ‘noble’ touch.

Owners can thus not only experience the charm of ‘putting together’ the yacht of their dreams: beyond that, they will own a Made-in-Italy jewel that is truly unique thanks to the design solutions implemented onboard.

The first 108’s will be characterized by a fascinating colour contrast that will enhance its style even more: dark oak wood will indeed be combined with leather and nubuck furniture details and linings, while on the main deck all floors will be in a light-shade parquet. Marble will be the dominant material in all bathrooms, where it will be used for shower floors, washbasin tops, and many other details.

In-depth studies were also performed on the all-LED lighting system, which is now considered a structural and architectural design element and no longer simply a functional one.

Special LED spotlights specifically designed for this model will be built-in in all ceiling panels which will then be installed on the Custom Line 108′. Moreover, all furniture in the main rooms will have backlit edges. Similarly, the large wall-mounted panel in the forward part of the main salon will be backlit and will continue in the ceiling panel above the dining table, further highlighting design choices and solutions.

THE VOTIS ONBOARD INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

In line with the new models presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2014, such as the Ferretti Custom Line Navetta 28 and the Pershing 70, the Custom Line 108’ too will be equipped with the innovative ‘VOTIS’ – Videoworks One Touch Infotainment System. Thanks to the cooperation between AYT&D and Videoworks – one of the Group’s technological partners – the entertainment system installed in the main deck salon can now be managed from an iPad, thereby replacing the remote controls of the various devices with one single control point.
logo-videoworks-300x72This technological solution takes onboard entertainment to unprecedented levels, as the system can now be controlled from any and all areas onboard the yacht, as well as be integrated with the Owner’s personal devices.

Additional optional functions may also be installed after the yacht has been built, allowing to verify the yacht’s correct operation, display on all devices and in each cabin the pictures recorded by the CCTV and the crew coordination system, as well as communicate between the yacht and the shipyard. The system also makes it possible to use the digital libraries contained in the central server, surf the Internet, and – thanks to the AirPlay technology – share audio/video contents in the individual rooms in streaming, using a wi-fi connection. Depending on one’s preferences, it will thus be possible to listen to music while someone else is watching videos and movies, in a completely independent way, or share the same contents in several different areas, and even throughout the yacht, thanks to the Party mode.

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE

The new project comes with two MTU 16V 2000 M94, 2638 mhp engines, allowing the yacht to reach a maximum speed of 26 knots and a cruising speed of 23 knots, with a range of 350 and 430 nautical miles, respectively. The yacht will also ensure a very limited consumption: its range at the economic cruising speed of 12 knots can indeed reach 1,000 nautical miles (preliminary data).

Great care has been devoted to easy mooring, thanks to the electro-hydraulic stabilising fins with underway and zero-speed functions, which come standard on this yacht. A pair of gyroscopic stabilizers can also be installed upon request, ensuring increased comfort.
