[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he unique and inimitable language of Sanlorenzo, finds further expression in the new production facilities at the headquarters in Ameglia (SP). LissoniCasal Ribeiro has designed the expansion and renovation of the historic site. As explained by the yard, the aim of this strategic project is not only to expand and renovate the headquarters, but also to communicate the spirit of the company, its philosophy and the design approach that has enabled the firm to reach the highest levels of worldwide production of yachtsand superyachts.
Set into the banks of the Magra River, inside the nature park of Montemarcello-Magra, the Ameglia site has been the headquarters of the company since 1999, thus becoming the heart of the Sanlorenzo universe. It is here, in fact, in a perfect encounter between craftsmanship and the most advanced technology, that the entry-level model of the three yacht ranges SL, SD and SX take shape in composite material, from 24 to 30 meters in length, from design to implementation.
The new Ameglia plant has an area of 22,000 sqm, divided into three units: two buildings for the production of yachts, for a total of 10,000 sqm, and an office complex on four levels. Overall, the new industrial complex covers an area of 135,000 sqm, of which 25,000 are for production, and 2,700 for offices. The project began in August 2018 and involved over 200 workers, 20,000 hours of design and 250,000 manhours for the construction. The project by LissoniCasal Ribeiro in the naval shipyards of Sanlorenzo at Ameglia introduces a contemporary architectural code, designing buildings marked by a precise combination of materials like concrete and metal, in explicit reference to the industrial language.
The new facilities contain 24 production stations to guarantee construction of 45 to 50 units per year from 76’ to 100’, with a resulting increase in the number of direct and indirect employees from 450 to about 900 workers. Moreover, the layout developed for the new plants, the new logistical flows and the ergonomics of the on-board work ensure not only augmented production capacity but also greater efficiency of about 30%. This result has also been achieved thanks to the implementation of a lock gate, a unique construction that permits passage of the yachts between the original site and the new production site, ensuring the continuity of the river bank when closed, in case of weather alerts.
The project by LissoniCasal Ribeiro for the Ameglia site will also have a second phase. The construction and activation of the new facilities will be followed by the renovation of the original buildings of the Ameglia headquarters, which at the moment contain the production, with the goal of achieving aesthetic uniformity, taking the industrial aspect to its essence and unifying the language through new finishes and colors, in perfect continuity with the recently completed upgrade of the shipyard in La Spezia. At the same time, the project calls for the redesign of the gardens and the pedestrian areas connecting the various locations.
To bear witness to the company’s focus on environmental issues, the Ameglia headquarters, given its particular positioning, has been designed to comply with the criteria set for UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 certification, indicating achievement of the best control of environmental impact connected to the activities, products and services of the company. Moreover, the site has been designed for energy self-reliance, thanks to the installation of 8000 square meters of solar panels.
