Van der Valk to build a new 28m explorer yacht

The Dutch yard has announced to have recently received an order for the third in its Explorer line (designed by Guido de Groot), offering the ideal blend of the classic & timeless with the bold & original. ), a 28-metre motoryacht with a raised pilothouse. The project is for a repeat client who only needed to spend a season enjoying his current Van der Valk to be convinced that an Explorer would be ideal to embark on the trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific voyages of his dreams. The yacht will be delivered in the spring of 2020.

Following on from Dutch Falcon and Santa Maria T,  the third yacht in the explorer range will be built entirely in strong, lightweight aluminium. She has a fast displacement hull, with twin MAN V12 1650 hp engines giving an estimated top speed of 20 knots. A VEEM VG145 zero-speed gyroscopic stabiliser system and two 32 kW Northern Lights generators will ensure onboard comfort at all times for owners and guests.

The majority of the yacht’s lower deck will be occupied by two identical VIP suites and two twin cabins, each with ensuite facilities. Aft of the engine room is a generous crew area with two cabins and a large mess & pantry. Further aft still will be a superb space for aquatic pursuits on a foldable beach platform with shower and sauna. A pantry with minibar will facilitate fun on the water without having to return inside.

The main deck has a luxurious master suite forward with a roomy ensuite bathroom and his & her closets. Amidships will be a raised pilothouse with three pilot seats – a great place to join the captain as the yacht progresses around the world. This area also contains a day head and well-appointed closed galley. Further aft will be the saloon with the formal dining space, with the option to extend the lounge into a lovely al fresco dining area with a U-shaped settee.
